FIX: Your account doesn’t work with To Do – Personal Microsoft Account

How to Resolve Microsoft To-Do Access Issues for Personal Microsoft Accounts

You’re trying to access Microsoft To Do, but you’re greeted with this error (translated below):

Your account doesn’t work with To Do
Your account isn’t on Exchange Online, so Microsoft To Do doesn’t support it. Contact your IT administrator for more information.

That’s weird because it has probably always worked, well I found this:

Changes to Microsoft To Do access for non-Exchange Online mailbox accounts – Microsoft Support

But this is with my personal Outlook.com account? It should be on Exchange Online at least!

Sign out of all other profiles

Sometimes, the issue isn’t with your account itself but with conflicting profiles logged into your browser or Microsoft site. Here’s how to clean things up:

Sign Out of All Accounts Except Your Personal Microsoft Account.

  • Open the Microsoft website you’re using (e.g., Outlook, To Do, or Office.com).
  • Click on your profile picture in the top right corner.
  • Select Sign out and forget for all accounts except your personal Microsoft account.
  • Try accessing Microsoft To Do again.

This step ensures that there are no conflicting accounts interfering with your access.

Try an incognito browser

If signing out of other profiles doesn’t work, the next step is to try accessing Microsoft To-Do in an incognito or private browsing window.

This eliminates any browser cache or cookie issues that might be causing the problem.

Open an Incognito Window:

  • In Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • In Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P

Go to the Microsoft To Do and log in with your personal Microsoft account.

If the error message doesn’t appear, it’s a caching issue.
You can try to delete your history and cache or keep using the incognito browser.
